A full renovation of an old village house connected to a 200 year-old barn. This project, for clients in their later years, needed to incorporate and blend seamlessly with all the beautiful pieces, both furniture and soft furnishings, that the couple had collected over their years together.
A great deal of time and thought was taken to make sure the interiors were sympathetic to the old building and to the beautiful Alpine village it sat in.
This project involved the transformation of an old barn into a unique and carefully considered home, beginning with an exceptionally complex programme of ground works and structural engineering.
One of the most challenging aspects was the need to temporarily lift and support the existing barn while extensive excavation and concrete works were carried out beneath it. This required meticulous planning, close coordination between the various specialists and careful project management throughout.
We were involved at every stage, from overseeing the complex structural works and construction through to the interior finishes and final detailing. The project was completed with the same level of care through to the selection and installation of all furnishings, creating a home that successfully combines the character and history of the original barn with a contemporary and cohesive interior.
